Culled from his five solo studio albums. Criteria for the list include re-listenability, how much they pump me up, awesomeness of their sound, and a slight consideration for the cultural narrative. “Jesus Walks” gets on the list because of the latter, and “Through The Wire” fails despite that. I put a lot of songs from Graduation on because I like the album so much, though (besides “I Wonder”) it’s not a great ‘songs’ album so much as just a great album. I suppose, then, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy really is clearly better because each song on the album functions highly on its own and within the context of the album. Late Registration just does not hold up for me, except for the songs with Nas and Cam’ron (and the first three songs) (which I suppose means it does sort of hold up for me after all). I think, as you will find out, that 808s and Heartbreak is just not very good at all.

More to the point, though, what do you think are Kanye’s best songs?
